1.   Beginning the Project

We like to start with a drawing or sketch with examples of the project you have in mind. This can include architect’s drawings (needed for commercial work), sketches, photographs, & magazine clippings. We will also make style and design suggestions based on the project type to best suite your space and individual needs.

2.   Approximate Price Range

We meet with you; either on site or at our office to discuss the different materials and construction methodology for your project. We will work with you in deciding different materials, construction, design features, hardware, and finishes and evaluate the overall cost of the project. We like to give you options on pricing so we can make your design a reality.

3.    Drawings & Samples

Working drawings will be provided to the client. We will go over the plans, elevations & details with you. At this time we will also be able to show you samples of the material(s) and finish(es) for your project. When you are satisfied, a firm price will be quoted. Drawings and designs by Fred Barr Woodworking remain our property until retainer is placed.

4.    Price Finalization

We work with the client to finalize the price and set a timeline for the project. At this time we require 50% to secure the order & begin production. We will keep you updated through the construction process and provide progress photos when requested. Any changes after finalization may result in additional charges and will have to be signed-off on.

5.   Delivery, Installation, & Documentation

This is the final step of the process. The balance of the product is paid by client upon delivery. We will provide a list of qualified installers will work with us to complete your project. If you decide to install yourself or through a contractor we will give you detailed drawings to make the process as easy as possible. At the end of every job we like to visit the site and ensure you are completely satisfied with the project. We also love to feature work on our website and will take photos at this time.
